Our Story
By Aana began in a home where sewing was simply part of everyday life. Garments were never disposable. Pieces were adjusted, refined and carefully finished. A mother who would alter clothing until it fit perfectly. An aunt who could create dresses entirely from scratch. Craftsmanship was always present, always admired.
That early exposure sparked a fascination with design and construction. An old family sewing machine became the starting point for experimenting with abaya designs. What began as curiosity quickly turned into purpose. The first abayas were tailored slowly and carefully, learning through every stitch.
When that machine finally gave way, our grandmother recognised the dedication and gifted a new sewing machine. That gesture marked a turning point. From that moment, creating abayas was no longer experimentation, it was commitment.
Through the will of Allah, the designs were received with overwhelming warmth across social media. What began as a handful of handcrafted pieces quickly gained remarkable attention, and demand grew faster than production could keep pace. The response confirmed what had always mattered most: women were searching for abayas that felt refined, intentional and different. From the beginning, exclusivity was essential. Designs were never rushed, never overproduced and never created simply to follow trends.
Soon producing a handful of hand-tailored pieces each week was no longer sustainable. Growth became necessary, but standards remained unchanged. Partnerships were formed only with tailors who share the same discipline, precision and respect for quality. Every By Aana abaya continues to be individually crafted with careful construction and considered detailing.
Attention to detail defines the process. Some designs take months to develop, others take up to a year before release. Fabric is tested. Drape is studied. Embellishments are positioned and repositioned. Nothing is final until it feels complete.
This is thoughtful design, shaped by passion and refined through time.
